this was such a beautiful read!! honestly thank you, i even talked to my roommates about it even though they dont watch the show lol. i could gush about your writing (particularly the 'he loves his family. he loves his home') and attention to detail, but i actually have a question!! What did you mean by "a mystical comet whose relevance to the show’s world i absolutely refuse to get sidetracked by" please expand on this!!! I remember this scene and also think about it a lot, was there something specific you noticed or just the general nuance of its presence? hehe thank you again for a wonderful article!

hey! i'm not the author of this post but i hope i can be of help ^^ it's said in the show that a comet falls on earth once every a thousand years and they bring an agent of change to the planet. the first is the green one that appears during evergreen episode (wich resembles lich), the second is the one that orgalorg tries to consume, the third is the one known as finn's "past lives" the blue comet, and the fourth is this one mentioned on her text (that makes an offer to finn and martin)

hey yes this is correct! (and sorry to original commenter for not seeing your question!) the comets are referred to as 'catalyst comets'; they're these external forces of change, which I've seen it speculated are sent by GOLB (the chaos deity seen in puhoy and the finale, and who canonically killed margles). as suggested by the fact that comets brought both finn and the lich, that change is kinda morally grey - it doesn't have to be good or evil, it's just new. (also, the green comet in 'evergreen' is probably the one which killed the dinosaurs. so that's fun).

but so that's why the comet makes the offer to finn: it's the first time the personification of a past comet has directly encountered the new comet, it's 'unprecedented'
